Your 8-Day Sri Lanka Tour Itinerary

Explore Sigiriya and Dambulla, discover Kandy’s sacred heritage, travel through the tea country and finish with time around historic Galle.

This route combines sightseeing with several travel days. Two nights near Sigiriya and two nights near Galle give you time to settle in, while the hill-country stops introduce you to Nuwara Eliya and Ella.

Explore the suggested itinerary below. The final schedule will reflect your flights, preferred activities and confirmed arrangements.

Meet your chauffeur at Bandaranaike International Airport and travel inland towards Sigiriya or Habarana, with breaks along the way.

Settle into your accommodation and spend the remaining time resting after your flight. No major sightseeing is planned today.

Overnight: Sigiriya or Habarana.

For a late arrival, we can discuss an airport-area overnight and adjust the route.

Explore Sigiriya Rock, following the stairways towards its summit ruins and views across the surrounding landscape.

The climb involves steep steps, so the visit should reflect your walking ability and comfort with heights. Afterwards, enjoy a relaxed afternoon at your accommodation.

An optional local cooking experience can be discussed in advance.

Overnight: Sigiriya or Habarana.

Leave for Kandy after breakfast, visiting Dambulla’s cave temples along the route.

Continue to your accommodation in Kandy. Visit the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic later in the day, subject to arrival time and visitor arrangements. If needed, this visit can move to the following morning.

Overnight: Kandy.

Travel towards Nuwara Eliya through the hill country, allowing time for selected scenic stops.

An arranged tea-factory visit can introduce you to tea production, subject to the venue’s operating schedule. On arrival, settle into your hotel and enjoy any remaining time at leisure.

If the Kandy temple visit takes place this morning, other stops will be reduced to keep the day manageable.

Overnight: Nuwara Eliya.

Transfer to Nanu Oya station for a proposed train journey to Ella through the hill country.

The service, travel class and reserved seats are subject to availability and confirmation. If a suitable train cannot be arranged, continue by private vehicle with scenic stops instead.

On arrival, check in and keep the rest of the day flexible. A visit to a Nine Arch Bridge viewpoint may fit today, depending on your arrival time.

Overnight: Ella.

If timing allows and you have not already visited, enjoy a short morning outing to a Nine Arch Bridge viewpoint before leaving Ella.

Continue towards the Galle area, with breaks for comfort and lunch. Today is primarily a transfer day, followed by time to settle into your coastal accommodation.

Overnight: Galle area.

Explore Galle Fort’s historic streets and coastal setting, with time to pause for photographs and refreshments.

Spend the remainder of the day at leisure. Enjoy your accommodation, relax by the pool or visit the beach, following local advice on sea conditions.

Your accommodation can be selected around a preference for heritage surroundings or beach access.

Overnight: Galle area.

Transfer to Bandaranaike International Airport for your departure. Pickup will be arranged around your flight and airline check-in requirements.

For an early departure, we may recommend moving the final overnight closer to the airport and adjusting the previous day.

The route includes several transfers and three consecutive one-night stops. For a slower journey, we can reduce the number of destinations or add nights.

We will review your arrival and departure details before confirming. Late arrivals or early departures may require an airport-area overnight and changes to the route.
